Let me just say that today I am extremely proud to be an American citizen. What happened today defies history, the amount of change that has taken place in our short existence of a nation is remarkable. Regardless of who you voted for, today will be remembered as one of the most important days in the history of these United States. Throughout President Obama’s campaign the word Change was seemingly used in every speech or campaign.

So to honor the desire for Change today I am proud to post the Converse CX Professional Leather Vulc. I found this shoe on Converse China’s website. While this may at first look like a traditional Converse shoe one only needs to look past the Chevron to see that change. The shoe features the traditional Chevron, but in place of the star is the Converse script.

While it was not in my original intention, the two colorways seem rather fitting today coming in Black/White and White/Black. Today represents many different achievements either personally or nationally. To me as a white male in predominantly white community I am overwhelmed by a feeling of unity in my Country. Now is a time in our history that we must rely on each other in ways that we had abandoned in our recent years of prosperity.

The Converse Blog’s Friday Flashback: Michael Jordan Team USA

Happy 4th of July, which is without question the most important American Holiday. The only problem is, July 2nd 1776 is the actual day that the Continental Congress actually voted for independence. The written Declaration of Independence was dated July 4 but wasn’t actually signed until August 2. Fifty-six delegates eventually signed the document, although all were not present on that day in August. By the way, I put in an application for a social studies teaching position yesterday. I don’t know what that means for the blog, maybe I’ll just have to post at night. Anyway….today’s flashback is all about the Red, White, and Blue!

I am not sure the shoe(s) that Michael Jordan is wearing hear, but I do know that they have a Chevron and they do have Star and that makes them Converse. I can’t think of shoe brand that is any more American than Converse and I am going to wear my pair of Chucks today, the ones with the American flag on them.

I am flying out to Orlando tomorrow for a week of vacation and I can’t wait. I am going to hit up at least two Converse outlet stores. We’re going to the Tampa Bay Rays game on Sunday and I might try to get to the Converse store outside of Tampa, but we’ll see. This means two things, I probably won’t be able to post any pics from the summer league or give any updates on Rose, Beasley, or any other rookie signings by Converse. I am going to just future post some pictures for the rest of the week, I didn’t really plan ahead enough so you’ll just have to stop in and see what’s up.

Before we get to it today, I’ve got to tell you something important. You have to watch Cloverfield, if you miss this movie you’re crazy. Drop all of your plans for the night and go watch this movie. Now, The Converse Blog’s Friday Flashback: World Class Trainer.

The Converse World Class Trainers are from the 70’s when Eltra owned Converse. I would love to see these re-issued by Converse as the really seem to stick out from other running/training shoes of that era. I love the blocking between the white-color-white on the sides of the shoes. Also the Chevron for this model is pretty unique, it gets wider the further out it goes. I’ve seen this on a few models, mostly from this era.

I got these pictures from ebay and Yahoo Auctions Japan. Also I must admit while watching Andy Roddick get tossed from another grand slam event, I realized that I left Tennis off of the pole at the top of the page. I went to change it, but since there are votes on it I couldn’t change it. So if you’re wondering, place Tennis in the other category. Thanks for checking out the Blog and don’t forget to vote.
