Dr.Romanelli has made a wonderful gift to all Converse fans. He has designed the new Converse sneakers and devoted them to the fight against AIDS. They are Band-Aid Chuck Taylor high sneakers with the pretty unique design. I’d love to pick up ones!

You can buy them for about 195 euro!

Converse All Star Stencil.

Recently Converse released a special make up the All Stars featuring a stencil spray paint design. You can find all three of these shoes at Converse.com, which is where I got these pictures from. One of the aspects of this release that I really enjoy is that it’s not over the top. Besides the ankle patch placement there a few other areas that are hit with the spray paint. It’s also nice that you can wear this without having to go out and buy something to match it, as all three versions come in either white/black/red or Black/white/red colorways. However, the best part of this release is in the ox version. This is one of the few, if not the only, All Star ox that features the iconic Chuck Taylor ankle patch.

Bobby Jackson Converse Ad.

Bobby Jackson was drafted in the 1997 by the Sonics with the 23 pick and was traded to Denver before the season began. Jackson was one of three first round picks that Converse signed along with Brevin Knight and Jacque Vaughn. Ron Mercer, also from the 1997 draft, would later on wear Converse in the NBA after previously wearing Converse at Kentucky.

I remember seeing this ad in a Sports Illustrated when it first came out, but I had forgotten about it until recently. This was during the “Stay True” campaign during the time that all Converse basketball shoes featured the Chuck Taylor Ankle patch.

I love this ad because it’s straight forward and it works well using the idea of less is more. It’s just Bobby Jackson sitting in a locker room with the tag line, “Is, Was, Will be.” While all three of players never went on to be stars in NBA, they’ve all expereinced long careers in the L. I always love this time of year because the finals are coming and right after that we get the draft. The draft is a chance every year for teams and company’s to experience growth, potential, and youthful energy. I am already looking forward to see who Converse will sign from this class.

The Converse Blog’s Weapon Wednesday: Slim Weapon + Elton Brand update

You’ve seen Weapons and you’ve seen the Poor Man’s Canvas Weapons….well if they mated you’d get today’s Weapon Wednesday. I am calling these the Converse Weapon Slim, but that’s just because I don’t have an official name and that’s the best I could come up with. These shoes are for those of you that like the look of the Weapon but don’t want to feel of a basketball shoe. They’re also for those of you that enjoy the Chuck Taylor mid-outsole but want a little more support for your ankles. Also these shoes are for everyone else, for various other reason.

If you remember back a few weeks ago when I posted pictures from Elton Brand’s initial photo shoot with 76ers…go ahead think back. At the time I questioned if Mr. Brand was in fact wearing his own signature Converse shoe. Well it turns out that he will have his own signature and it will be sold at exclusively at JC Penny for $65. You can read more about it by going over to Dime Magazine. You’ll also find a description of the EB logo, pretty cool.
