Don Haskins who in 1966 took only African-American players in the team (it was a revolutionary innovation) and as a result he led them to the victory in the championship …

The “Glory Road” movie was directed by James Gartner and debuted in USA in 2006.

However players with white color of a skin do not strongly aspire to leave for the western Texas so the coach had to pay his attention to the black men playing basketball. There was the middle of 60th years and black basketball players in a team were only the necessity of justifying racial «non-discrimination». «The game was created for white people, and it exists only for them» —so coach Haskins did in defiance to this rule. He proved that there is no matter of what color of skin the player had, what his level of education was and what religion he confessed. He saw only important things — speed, talent and ability to work in a team.

Trainings were extremely tiresome for players, but all that was done to make the game easy, to teach them fastness and self-mastery. The team of Haskins though opened the season but caused many racist attacks. But the players of this team were good sportsmen and did not pay any attention to other people’s opinion. They were taught by the best trainer. And they could prove their superiority only by playing and winning.

Trying to reach the NCAA finals which were going to be held at College Park, Maryland, they faced University of Kentucky. That team was a top-ranking one playing under the direction of legendary coach Adolph Rupp (Jon Voight). “Wildcats” were better experienced and all of them were white. On the eve of the game Haskins gathered the whole team into the big empty sports ground and declared about his decision to take only African-American players for that game. And even white players reacted very well. So the coach was right – it worked. They won the championship!

Trainings were extremely tiresome for players, but all that was done to make the game easy, to teach them fastness and self-mastery. The team of Haskins though opened the season but caused many racist attacks.

Don Haskins has destroyed a stereotype about “white” basketball, having defined a direction of basketball development. Having won a large quantity of games and some championships, he became a legend.

He dreamt of being deaf-and-dumb, of living in a hut on the forest border…Now he is old, deaf and living in the woods surrounding, his hunt has become his stronghold, and only occasional stranger can see this man in passing. He is the legend but nobody knows what kind on life he lives…

This is the begging of so popular American drama basketball movie named “Finding Forrester”.

This Converse movie is a touching story about famous author who lives the life of a recluse and young boy who’s able to win the heart of the hermit.

This guy Jamal lives in his own world. He is poor by birth, he is not blazing with intellect, but he

knows what life is and he has his system of values. Jamal is a real basketball nut, he plays well and likes basketball most of all. He lives among simple folk, that guys are proud of finding themselves in police district; they are “bad” boys but excellent sportsmen.

And if there any chance to break out from this style of life, to implement your potential?

Jamal gets such a chance. He receives the invitation to enter another, more prestigious school. But how you can make a choice between old life and new one? How you can leave your stereotypes? It’s really difficult but it’s the one way out.

Finding Forrester (2000)

And the fortune pushes him. He meets the person who will play the great role in his life. Forrester is the old writer who lives far from civilization. This man shows the right way to Jamal. He shows the boy that his real mission to write books.

Forrester: No thinking – that comes later. You must write your first draft with your heart. You rewrite with your head. The first key to writing is… to write, not to think!

They become big friends; they become parts of each other lives.

Afterwards, Forrester thanks Jamal and tells him of his desire to return to his homeland of Scotland. And Jamal becomes a writer and thanks Forrester for teaching him.

“Finding Forrester” is a good story debuted in US in 2000. It was nominated for many awards. It’s the favorite basketball movie for many people in the world and for me too.

It went on to gross $51,804,714 domestically and $28,245,050 from the Foreign market for a worldwide total of $80,049,764. Watch and download “Finding Forrester” here.

“Coach Carter” is an American drama. It directed by Tomas Carter and is starring Samuel L. Jackson in association with Paramount Pictures. The film based on a true story about Richmond High School and its basketball coach Ken Carter. He put the new strict rules for players.

When Carter started to coach the team began to win all the matches. Many legends were talked about this coach. He made the basketball team undefeated. But once Carter got to know that one of his players didn’t agreed the Academic results. So he battened down and made an extraordinary decision.

Coach Carter (2005)

His command really was almost invincible and confidently went to a victory in the championship when once on the eve of a responsible match the trainer locked children in sports hall and did not to continue struggle… So he said that he worried not only about the games results but about the future of his team. He wanted all the team members to become a clever and talented people and good basketball players of course. After such strict measures he found his players sitting at the gym and tutoring with teachers. So Carter who was already ready to leave decided to stay with his team thanking the players. In the last game Crane makes the winning shot to end Richmond’s season.

During the closing song it was shown how six players from the Carter’s team joined basketball college team.

There were many argues about such drastic action of coach Carter. He is very principal person so I think he was right and he reached his aim, he could make his team the best one without losses for study.

“Coach Carter” debuted in 2005 in U.S. This basketball movie has become one of the most popular stories.

It became #1 in the United States box office and has grossed over $67,264,877. But it didn’t become so popular overseas. But I think every basketball fan should watch it.

If you want to know more about this movie you can read about it on Paramount official web site, there you can also join the fan group of the “Coach Carter” movie.
“He Got Game” is one more basketball movie, one more interesting story about sport, about relationships and about mutual understanding between father and son. It premiered in 1998 like sport-drama film written and directed by Spike Lee. This movie turned out to become one of the best movies in Converse rating.

This is the touching story about the man convicted for killing his wife. He spent his time at Attica State Prison.

He Got Game (1998)

His son Jesus Shuttlesworth (Ray Allen) is very talented basketball player. This boy is up-and-coming young professional and even governor of state knows and likes him very mush. So the governor are ready to shorten Jesus’ father his term if he tries to persuade the boy to enter “Big State” college.

The father of the boy is temporarily let out to have a talk with his son. But Jesus hates him because of the mother’s death and doesn’t want to meet his own father.

Everybody who is there around Jesus just tries to load with money being next to famous player. Even his girlfriend looks for gain only.

So after many events Jesus decides to accept father’s advice and soon he reaches his signing day.

“He Got Game” earned about $21, 000 000 and lead the top 100 best sports movies in US.

Roger Ebert – a famous American film critic – gave the film three-and-a-half-stars, and called it Lee’s best film since “Malcolm X”.

It’s necessary to say that Spike Lee and Denzel Washington were nominated as the best actors. Also the soundtrack was nominated. It was composed of numerous orchestral pieces by Aaron Copland with songs created by the political organization “Public Enemy”.

You can download sports movies here.

Ray Allen who played the main role in this basketball movie “He Got Game” is in real life well-known basketball player in NBA league. So he could portray Jesus skillfully and deeply; the story turned to be very true-to-life, breathtaking and dramatic.

“He Got Game” is one more basketball movie

The movie seduced its audience and induced the great reaction. It’s an emotional film and now a lot of people watch it one more time. Such kinds of movies never die and never lose the interest of viewers.
