S Monday’s Trip Down Memory Lane: Converse Abolisher

So Friday came and went without a Friday Flashback…okay so I suck at life. In an attempt to redeem myself, I bring you the first ever “The Converse Blog’s Monday’s Trip Down Memory Lane.” I love ridiculously long names that are uncalled for, as if you didn’t already know this.

Today’s TCBMTDML, is the Converse Abolisher. The Abolisher might actually be the best name a for a shoe EVER, or it could not be, but I am leaning more towards that it is. These are a 90′s basketball, that looks to be during the REACT era. However, these don’t actually feature React.

The Upper features a nice zig-zag pattern that was apparently all the rage back in the 90′s.

S Friday Flashback: Converse Classic Golf.

Welcome to the Converse Blog’s Friday Flashback. Today’s Flashback is the Converse Classic Golf shoe. Back in the day Converse made Golf Shoes, and that’s exactly what these are. Brown Leather, Metal Spikes, Lace Guard flap, it’s all right here in these Converse Classic Golf shoes.

Today you’d be hard pressed to find anyone playing golf with metal spikes, but it used to be the only way to play. They aren’t even allowed at our local country club, which stinks because if I ever find a pair I’d have to drive somewhere else to play haha. Anyway Golf has been on my mind lately since my PS3 died I’ve been playing the Wii and some Tiger Woods! I hope someday Converse will make Golf shoes again, I just hope it’s before I’m eligible for the seniors tour. Don’t forget to follow along on Twitter @TheConverseBlog.

S Friday Flashback: Converse ECO shoes.

If you couldn’t figure out, the whole Dwyane Wade to wear chucks was a very bad attempt at a April Fools joke. Oh well maybe I fooled one or two you out there. Now onto the Friday Flashback.

A few years ago Converse had a line of trail shoes going by the name of Converse ECO. I actually had a pair of these in a different colorway. These shoes were build tough, and wore them while helping to build an outdoor classroom in my high school biology class. In fact I would still probably be able to wear them had I not been an idiot and tried to put them on while they were still tied. I know we all do it, but we really shouldn’t. I messed up the heel cap and now sometime sharp sticks out and attacks my heel. Oh well, I am still holding out hope to find a pair on the eBay someday.

The Converse Blog’s Friday Flashback: The Converse Stormgards

Sometimes you just can’t make stuff up, you know truth can be stranger than fiction. I recently found these gems on eBay. I’ve seen a picture of them before, but that picture wasn’t good enough to post. These however, are clear enough to show. I don’t have a clue when they were made, although I assume that they released during the 70′s give the nature of the Converse logo on the tag. When you look at these a few words might come to mind, ones that may or may not start with What The…. But the one word that should come to mind for everyone is the Warm.

See I told you these were crazy. Give these bad boys to John Varvatos and lets see what he can do with it. Anyway, I am out for the week.
