Hoop Dreams is a documentary story about two Afro-American students who lived and studied in Chicago and dreamt of becoming professional and famous basketball players. This basketball movie is directed by Steve James and became one of the best sport story ever told. It premiered in 1994 and got the audience love at once. This movie also got a lot of critics and became the most discussed story that year including Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, Heavenly Creatures and Quiz Show.

It earned about 7,8 million dollars and became one of the most famous documentary film in US

It earned about 7,8 million dollars and became one of the most famous documentary film in US. So the impression from the movie is really great. It’s an interesting story about Chicago students. The high school where they were studying had an outstanding basketball program. Having difficult lessons at the university they found the time to work hard on their sport skills. Gates and Agee were the best friends and held the same views during their life and career. It’s a story about success and failures, about guys who wanted to reach the NBA level. Besides that the film highlighted a lot of problems and issues of secondary America. So it told about race, class, economic and education in US. It won 7 different awards so made its best among recent basketball movies. After it had been nominated as a best documentary movie the Academy Award changed the its voting rules so every director who was working in these sphere could vote for award in the documentary genre he worked in.

Neither Agee nor Gates made the NBA. But this fact tells us that it’s not so important to reach the aim how important to have it. They knew what they had been living for and they chose the right way to fill their lives with sense.

I know that these guys didn’t stop training and playing. Arthur Agee made the “Hoop Dreams” sportswear line in 2006. A lot of bad events happened in their families, but they stayed strong and optimistic. The movie “Hoop Dreams” is an interesting sad story that can touch every of us. But if you are a real basketball fan so it’s an obvious movie for you! Look for and download sports movies here

Neither Agee nor Gates made the NBA.
Krik Hinrich has been wearing the Low top version of the Weapon EVO since last years playoffs, however we haven’t seen the Red/Black/White colorway that he wore against Miami the other day. Don’t get your hopes up for this particular colorway of EVO low, just hope that Kirk wears them more often.

Welcome to the Converse Blog’s Weapon Wednesday! Today I’m giving some love to one of the NBA players wearing Converse this year, Alando Tucker of the Phoenix Suns. Here he is pictured in two different colorways of the Weapon EVO, a black/purple/orange and then a white/orange/purple for media day.

I just love the way that the Suns color combo pops on sneakers, and they work perfect with the Weapon EVO.

So I was playing around on ConverseOne last night and I came up with a few designs that I thought I’d share with you. If you don’t already know, the Converse Weapon OX is now up and live at ConverseOne.com. First up is the Converse Weapon OX Wyoming colorway, which is inspired by one of my favorite color combos in all of sports. That combo belongs to the Wyoming Cowboys! I was so hoping that they could’ve pulled off the huge upset over Texas last week…oh well they’ll have to settle for some love from the Converse Blog.

I’m not really a Raiders fan, I am actually a Dolphins fan. However, I couldn’t make a Dolphins colorway on ConverseOne so I had some fun and gave some love the Black Hole in Oakland.

Here is my DA BULLS colorway. There is nothing like a straight black shoe with a hit of Red in the Y-Bar, at least that’s what my mother always told me.

Last but not least, is my Coach Cal colorway. As you know I’m a hardcore Kentucky fan, so I thought I’d give our new coach some love with his own Converse Weapon colorway.

That’s it for today. If you’ve got any ideas for a new poll send them my way. Don’t forget to follow along on twitter @TheConverseBlog. Thanks for checking out the blog.

I love sports drafts, fantasy football drafts, and rough drafts. For fans of sports drafts, June is the most wonderful time of the year. In June you have the MLB, NHL, and NBA drafts. While I enjoyed watching the MLB draft and I look forward to the NHL draft, it’s all about the NBA draft for me.

When I was younger I would tape each draft and I would write down all of the information about each player drafted. I would then take the relevant information and create all of the new players on NBA Live. I didn’t care that a new game would be coming out a few months later, I wanted the new players right then.

I also love that you never know what’s going to happen. Who is going to be picked sooner or later than they were projected? Who is going to be traded? Will this guy ever actually play in the league? But more than anything else I’ve always enjoyed seeing people advance to the next level of their profession.

Which brings me to a little bit of a personal matter that I want to share with you all. After spending a year in the D-League, also known as substitute teaching, yesterday I accepted a 6th grade teaching position here in Corbin. It’s safe to say that I am freaking out a little bit. However, I am very excited to take on this new challenge and take my “game” to the next level. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that I’ve been given. I was fortunate enough to beat out 65 other applicants to win the position and I give God all the thanks for this new opportunity.

Which brings me to today’s post, Dominic James has had one workout for the upcoming NBA draft. James, the senior guard from Marquette, almost came out for the draft after his sophomore year but returned for two more years. Unfortunately, he broke a bone in his foot and missed significant time in his Senior year. No doubt that his draft chances would be better had the injury not happened. Never the less he is going strong trying to convince one of the NBA teams to select him in the draft.

For what it’s worth, I’ll be rooting for Marquette’s James, Jerel McNeal, and Wesley Matthews in the upcoming NBA draft. Below are two pictures from that lone workout with the Bucks. He’s wearing the Converse Wade Slash that most of Marquette wore last season

Thanks for checking out the blog, I haven’t gotten to the new poll yet though. As you can probably imagine it’s been pretty crazy around here the last few days. Look for that soon, along with a new Friday Flashback tomorrow!

Bobby Jackson was drafted in the 1997 by the Sonics with the 23 pick and was traded to Denver before the season began. Jackson was one of three first round picks that Converse signed along with Brevin Knight and Jacque Vaughn. Ron Mercer, also from the 1997 draft, would later on wear Converse in the NBA after previously wearing Converse at Kentucky.

I remember seeing this ad in a Sports Illustrated when it first came out, but I had forgotten about it until recently. This was during the “Stay True” campaign during the time that all Converse basketball shoes featured the Chuck Taylor Ankle patch.

I love this ad because it’s straight forward and it works well using the idea of less is more. It’s just Bobby Jackson sitting in a locker room with the tag line, “Is, Was, Will be.” While all three of players never went on to be stars in NBA, they’ve all expereinced long careers in the L. I always love this time of year because the finals are coming and right after that we get the draft. The draft is a chance every year for teams and company’s to experience growth, potential, and youthful energy. I am already looking forward to see who Converse will sign from this class.
